These investment options are managed with more flexible asset allocation ranges and aim to achieve their target returns by carefully managing risk, limiting the risk of a negative return over the period. This approach is expected to help smooth the returns of the investment options.

MLC Flexible Moderate
This investment option is managed with a flexible asset allocation, investing across a diversified range of asset classes, with a strong focus on risk management. The investment option has the flexibility to reduce exposure to an asset class that would cause too much risk of a negative return over 5 years.
Objective: Inflation + 2-3% pa (after fees and tax), subject to limiting the risk of negative returns, over 5 years.
Risk level: Medium
(estimate of 2 to 3 negative annual returns in any 20 year period)
20-80% growth / 20-80% defensive.
Minimum time to invest: 3 years.
MLC Flexible Assertive
This investment option is managed with a flexible asset allocation, investing across a diversified range of asset classes, with a strong focus on risk management. The investment option has the flexibility to reduce exposure to an asset class that would cause too much risk of a negative return over 7 years.
Objective: Inflation + 3-4% pa (after fees and tax), subject to limiting the risk of negative returns, over 7 years.
Risk level: High.
(estimate of 4 to 6 negative annual returns in any 20 year period)
40-100% growth / 0-60% defensive.
Minimum time to invest: 7 years.
