Hearing and interpreting services

MLC offers both interpreting and hearing support services. Details of these services can be found below.

Hearing service – National Relay Service (NRS)

The National Relay Service is a phone solution for people who are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment. Depending on your needs, you can choose from the following National Relay Service call options.

TTY (Teletypewriter) or voice calls

Call 133 677 then ask for 132 652

Speak and listen

Call 1300 555 727 then ask for 132 652

SMS relay

Text 0423 677 767

Note: NRS is an Australian Government initiative – there may be costs associated with using the NRS. Please see relayservice.gov.au  for more details.

Interpreting service – Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) National

Customers who do not speak English and wish to call the MLC Contact Centre may refer to the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) National service, operated by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

Charges for using the TIS National service when calling the MLC Client Service Centre will be paid for by MLC. MLC may also call TIS National directly to organise this.
